It’s day three! We traveled to Toms River, N.J. to perform at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River. The sanctuary was decorated with American flag bows on the pews and hung in the back of the church was a gigantic American flag. Singing our patriotic pieces and looking up to the flag, really brought a whole new meaning of what it means to serve America, especially when we sing Dolly Parton’s “Color Me America” (red, white, and blue.) Sponsoring us for the ninth time was our good friend, Jeff Alino. We greatly appreciate his support for the Sea Chanters and the Navy Band.
In attendance to tonight’s concert was former Sea Chanter Jim Grant (1965-1969.) It’s always a blessing to meet a fellow Sea Chanter! Once a Sea Chanter, always a Sea Chanter!
Bud Lomell, a resident of Toms River and WWII veteran, passed away a couple of weeks ago. According to our sponsor, Bud was really looking forward to meeting the group and watching us perform. During the concert we dedicated the Navy Hymn to Bud. Bud, thank you for your time in service. We wish your family well.
Our journey has been enjoyable and inspiring. Thanks for all the love and support. Now it’s off to Connecticut!
Musician 1st Class Sarah Tietsort is a soprano vocalist in the Sea Chanters.
