Promotion for Navy Band XO

Congratulations to Lt. Cmdr. John "Walt" Cline, who was promoted to his present rank today in a ceremony at the Sail Loft on the historic Washington Navy Yard. Enlisting in 1988, Cline was commissioned an limited duty officer bandmaster in May 2001. Prior to his commissioning, he served with Navy Bands in Memphis, Great Lakes, Norfolk, as well as a completing the Senior Leaders Course, Ceremonial Conductor/Drum Major Course, and the Assistant Leader/Enlisted Band Director Course at the School of Music. Since becoming a bandmaster, Cline has served as the assistant director of the Naval Academy Band; director of Navy Band Mid-South; fleet bandmaster for U.S. 7th Fleet; director of Navy Band Great Lakes; and is currently serving as the executive officer of the U.S. Navy Band.

Also, congratulations to Lt. j.g. Brian Chaplow, who was promoted to his present rank in a ceremony today at the School of Music in Little Creek, Va.
